THE MOST IMPORTANT PROCEDURAL STEPS ARE EXPLAINED BELOW:
1. Source Material for the Pattern
This stage lays the groundwork for a flawless lost foam casting process. Choose materials meticulously based on specific casting requirements. For aluminum die castings, expandable polystyrene, enriched with pentane, is selected for its superb blowing agent capabilities.
When crafting cast iron and steel parts, a superior copolymer blend of EPS and EPMMA is employed.
2. Pre-expansion
The polystyrene's expansion is driven by pentane's powerful blowing effect. Below, explore a bead pre-expanded using an advanced fluidity bed dryer for optimal results.
3. Molding
To produce the intricate pattern section, pre-expanded EPS beads are expertly channeled through a fill gun into a cutting-edge permanent metallic mold with the aid of compressed air. Within this mold, beads coalesce during heating to craft the precise pattern geometry. See the detailed molding process outlined below.
4. Pattern Section Assembly and Mounting
Complex geometrical patterns are innovatively divided into manageable sections. Post foaming and drying, these segments are meticulously assembled to form a complete pattern and mounted onto a gating system, creating an impressive cluster.
5. Coating of the Clusters
The meticulously assembled clusters are submerged in a water-based refractory coating, achieving an ideal thickness of approximately 2mm.
6. Mold Filling
Positioned within a flask, the coated cluster is enveloped in quartz sand using a sophisticated sand raining feeder. Vibration compacts the sand flawlessly until the cluster is fully encased, with the sprue remaining exposed for easy access.
7. Casting
A precise down sprue aligns with the EPS sprue, facilitating the seamless pouring of molten metal. This liquid metal courses through the foam pattern's gating system, cleverly decomposing the EPS cluster and perfectly filling the mold cavity with intricate precision. 8. Demolding
Once the molten metal solidifies, the casting is realized. The castings are then advanced to the subsequent stage for thorough cleaning and refinement.
9. Sand Processing Department
Following demolding, the utilized sand is efficiently conveyed to the processing system for comprehensive recycling and reuse.
