1. Source Material for the Pattern

For aluminum die castings, our choice is the expandable polystyrene (EPS) enriched with pentane, an effective blowing agent ensuring optimal results.

2. Pre-expansion
Experience the efficient expansion of polystyrene, made possible by the pentane blowing agent. Here, witness a bead pre-expanded to perfection using a state-of-the-art fluidity bed dryer.
3. Molding
The journey to actual pattern creation begins as pre-expanded EPS beads are expertly driven through a fill gun into a permanent metallic mold, facilitated by compressed air. Within this mold, the beads unite during heating, giving life to the targeted pattern geometry. Discover the intricacies of the molding process as detailed below.
4. Pattern Section Assembly and Mounting
Complex pattern geometries are ingeniously divided into simpler sections. Once foamed and dried, these sections come together to form a complete pattern, seamlessly mounted on a gating system to shape a cohesive cluster.
5. Coating of the Clusters
The assembled clusters are meticulously coated by dipping them into a water-based refractory coating, achieving an ideal thickness of approximately 2mm for enhanced performance.
6. Mold Filling
The coated cluster takes its place in a flask, as quartz sand is delicately filled using a sand raining feeder. Through vibration, the sand compacts perfectly, embedding the cluster with just the sprue visible, ready for the next stage.
7. Casting
A precisely aligned down sprue stands over the EPS sprue, guiding molten metal as it's poured into this channel. As the metal flows through the foam pattern's gating system, it decomposes the EPS cluster, skillfully filling the mold cavity with intricate precision. 8. Demolding
