This is a pivotal step for successful lost foam casting. Selecting materials tailored to specific casting needs is crucial. For producing aluminum die castings, expandable polystyrene infused with pentane as a blowing agent is recommended for optimal results. In contrast, crafting cast iron and steel parts demands a robust copolymer blend of EPS and EPMMA, ensuring strength and durability.

2. The Pre-expansion Phase
Leveraging pentane as the blowing agent, polystyrene gains its expandable quality. Observe a bead in its pre-expanded state, achieved through a fluidity bed dryer, preparing it for further processing.
3. Precision Molding Process
