ESSENTIAL PROCEDURAL STEPS UNVEILED BELOW:
1. Pattern Material Sourcing
This stage is crucial for lost foam casting. Select materials tailored to the casting type; for aluminum die castings, expandable polystyrene with pentane as a blowing agent is preferred. For cast iron and steel components, a unique EPS and EPMMA copolymer is utilized.

2. Pre-Expansion Process
Polystyrene expands due to pentane, a blowing agent. A bead is then pre-expanded using a fluidity bed dryer for optimal results.
3. Molding Stage
In this phase, pre-expanded EPS beads are injected into a metallic permanent mold using compressed air through a fill gun. The beads bond upon heating, forming the desired pattern with precision. See the detailed molding process below.
4. Assembling Pattern Sections and Gating System Integration
Complex patterns are simplified into segments, which are assembled post-foaming and drying. Multiple patterns are then mounted onto a unified gating system, forming a cluster.
5. Cluster Coating Process
Clusters are dipped in a water-based refractory coating, creating a protective layer approximately 2mm thick.
6. Mold Filling Phase The coated cluster is placed in a flask, and quartz sand is poured and compacted using a vibration table. Upon compaction, the cluster is fully embedded in quartz sand, with only the sprue exposed.
7. Casting Procedure
A down sprue is aligned with the EPS sprue. Molten metal is poured into this downsprue, flowing into the gating system. The molten metal decomposes the EPS cluster, intricately filling the mold cavity. Explore the decomposition process further below.
8. Demolding Stage
Post-solidification, the casting takes shape. The cast product is moved to subsequent stages for thorough cleaning and inspection.
9. Sand Recycling and Processing
