THE ESSENTIAL PROCEDURAL STEPS ARE OUTLINED WITH CLARITY BELOW:
1. Sourcing Material for the Pattern
This critical stage in lost foam casting demands precision in selecting materials specific to the casting type. For aluminum die castings, we opt for expandable polystyrene infused with pentane, serving as an effective blowing agent, ensuring optimal results.
In contrast, for producing cast iron and steel components, we employ a specialized copolymer composed of EPS and EPMMA, tailored to meet the distinct requirements of these materials.
2. Pre-Expansion
Polystyrene is engineered to expand due to pentane's role as a blowing agent. The subsequent step involves pre-expanding the beads using a fluidity bed dryer, optimizing them for the next stages of production.
3. Molding
During the production of the actual pattern section, pre-expanded EPS beads are expertly injected into a metallic permanent mold using compressed air through a fill gun. Once inside the mold, the beads are seamlessly bonded through heating, forming the precise geometry required. Explore the intricate molding process below.
4. Pattern Section Assembly and Gating System Mounting
Complex pattern geometries, initially segmented for simplicity, are meticulously assembled into a complete pattern post-foaming and drying. Subsequently, multiple patterns are expertly mounted onto a unified gating system to form a cohesive cluster.
5. Coating the Clusters
The assembled clusters are immersed in a water-based refractory coating via dipping, resulting in a uniform 2mm thick protective layer that enhances durability and performance.
6. Mold Filling
Positioned in a flask, the coated cluster is enveloped in quartz sand delivered by a sand raining feeder, and compacted through a vibration table. This process ensures the cluster is fully embedded in quartz sand, with only the sprue exposed, ready for casting.
7. Casting
A down sprue is strategically placed over the EPS sprue, facilitating molten metal flow into the gating system. As the molten metal advances, it decomposes the EPS cluster, intricately filling the mold cavity. Discover the decomposition process intricacies below.
8. Demolding
Upon solidification, the casting emerges, poised for the next phase of cleaning and refinement, ensuring pristine final products.
9. Sand Processing Department
Following demolding, used sand is conveyed to our state-of-the-art processing system, enabling efficient recycling and reuse.
