THE MOST IMPORTANT PROCEDURAL STEPS ARE EXPLAINED BELOW:
1. Source Material for the Pattern
Selecting the right material is crucial in lost foam casting. Match the material to the casting type for optimal results. For aluminum die casting, we prefer expandable polystyrene, enriched with pentane as the blowing agent, to ensure quality results.
agent. For cast iron and steel components, we utilize a robust copolymer blend of EPS and EPMMA, tailored for enhanced performance and durability.
2. Pre-expansion
With pentane as a dynamic blowing agent, polystyrene expands effectively. Observe a bead pre-expanded with a fluidity bed dryer, ensuring superior moldability and consistency.
3. Molding
In the molding process, pre-expanded EPS beads are propelled through a fill gun, under the power of compressed air, into a robust metallic mold. Heating bonds the beads to form the precise pattern geometry desired, as detailed in the molding process below.
4. Pattern Section Assembly and Gating System Installation
Complex pattern geometries are simplified into sections, which are assembled post-foaming and drying. These unified patterns are then mounted onto a gating system, culminating in a cohesive cluster.
5. Coating of the Clusters
The mounted clusters receive a durable, water-based refractory coating via dipping. This protective layer stands at a robust 2mm, ensuring resilience and performance.
6. Mold Filling
The coated cluster is strategically positioned within a flask. A sand raining feeder fills it with quartz sand, compacted by a vibrating table. Upon completion, the cluster is fully encased, with only the sprue visible.
7. Casting
A down sprue is aligned over the EPS sprue. As molten metal cascades through, it seamlessly infiltrates the gating system, decomposing the EPS cluster and meticulously filling the mold cavity. Discover the intricate decomposition process below.
8. Demolding
Once the molten metal solidifies, the castings take shape. We then advance them to the subsequent stage for thorough cleaning and refinement.
9. Sand Processing Department
Following demolding, the used sand is meticulously conveyed back to the processing system, ready for efficient recycling and reuse.
